Geofoam Construction Cases
EPS in Construction
Expanded polystyrene is widely used in the food, packaging and construction industries. In construction, flame retardants are added to EPS making it a self-extinguishing material conforming to Israeli Standard 755 (Behavior of Building Material during Fire).
Geofoam Construction Cases
EPS geofoam fills provide an excellent solution for construction on unstable ground. They separate the soil from the building's foundations and when the soil rises (usually due to moisture) they absorb the pressure, preventing it from cracking walls and floors.
The geofoam fills are solid, lightweight and water resistant and offer an inexpensive, quality solution for full insulation of the structure from the ground.
For full insulation, we recommend geofoam cases 20cm thick.
Insulation canals for foundation beams are also available.
What is Expanded Polystyrene?
Expanded polystyrene is a polymeric material also known as Styrofoam. The polymer is soaked in foaming substance. High temperature steam causes the evaporation of foaming additives and the puffing of polymer grains. The result is low-density, low-weight polystyrene.
Then, the polystyrene is processed in low pressure injection molding machines that use steam, water and heat to make molded products out of polystyrene flakes. Due to the molding process, the resulting products are excellent thermal insulators (as the puffy flakes are stuck together closely and prevent the passage of heat ), lightweight, resilient, energy-absorbing (shock-resistant), with low water-absorption and do not attract mold or fungi.
Available in various densities.
