The Original Immobilizer System: 'ECU Replacement'
In order to bypass Original Immobilizer Systems, the thief disconnects the original vehicle's Electronic Engine Management Control Unit and replaces it with a preprogrammed unit or a 'set' (ECU and keys) from another vehicle, that allows him to start the car's engine without the original keys. All car thieves know where the ECU's are in each car and can start any car!
Though there are slight differences between specific vehicle systems, most of these systems consist of one or more computers in the car (known as 'ECU's) that 'allow' or 'forbid' the engine to start and a small 'transponder' in the car's key that transmits a specific code to the car. In order to authorize engine starting the code received from the key must be the same as the one programmed in the car's ECU/s.
The SafeCar Safe™ encloses the Engine ECU, preventing access to the thief so that there is no way for him to start the engine, especially if the Safe™ is fitted with one of our Electronic Immobilizer Systems like the SC-100 or SC-107!
The Aftermarket Fitted System: 'Hot Wiring'
The thief bypasses the aftermarket system fitted to the vehicle by simply finding the remote 'leech' unit or the wire/s that disconnects or jam a vehicle function when the system is activated and bypasses them in a matter of seconds. This is known as "Hot Wiring". All car thieves know where these systems are and how to bypass them!
These systems use a variety of validation systems and relays ('leech' units) to physically disconnect or short circuit (known as 'jamming' in the trade - sounds better!) a wire or wires of the car's systems.
This interference prevents engine starting by aiding the Original Immobilizer System to function improperly and/or preventing another necessary vehicle function to operate. For example; by disconnecting the wire that sends power to the starter motor solenoid when you turn the ignition switch.
Validation systems include: additional [coded] remote controls, numeric keypads (like our SafeCode™ and DNA-100, fingerprint identification and separate 'transponders'.
The SafeCar Safe™ encloses the 'leech' unit of these systems, making them inaccessible to the thief, preventing them from 'Hot Wiring' the engine and driving away with your precious vehicle!
